Our team has prepared guidelines with virtual learning advice for parents. The document has been shared as a pdf and contains tips such as keeping a daily routine, using a holistic approach and tips on how to make learning fun. The most important thing is that virtual learning should not create a stressful home situation.
The period of the building's closure caused by the coronavirus outbreak has been challenging for all members of the Amity International School Amsterdam community. Amity Amsterdam's parents are accustomed to their children being in school Monday through Friday, with world-class teachers leading the learning. Now, parents in many cases are taking a more active role guiding their children in online courses provided by the school. Amity Amsterdam is very aware of the impact this has had on parents.
If you feel like you need additional support, please reach out to your class teach or the respective Head of School.
Amity Amsterdam will continue to offer the best possible virtual learning for as long as the school building's closure, enforced by local authorities, goes on. The school is committed to providing high-quality service just as it is in normal circumstances. Communication and support for parents is a big part of that.
For now, Amity Amsterdam’s building will be closed until 6th April 2020 following the advice from the Dutch Government and the Dutch Health Authority. We will conduct a deep clean during this time in order to start the lessons again once the green light has been provided by the authorities.
Our staff will be working remotely. We are doing our utmost to give you and your children the best service possible under the constraints we face. Teachers will check and respond to e-mails at least twice a day, between 8:00 - 9:00 and 15:00 - 16:00.
Work will be posted online by 20:00 the night before.
Whilst the building is closed, we are moving to a virtual learning model allowing our students to continue their education by working remotely. Staff and teachers will be available for questions and to prepare the distant learning to ensure your child is able to progress. Therefore, since educational services are continuing, Amity will not reimburse the school fees.
Amity International School Amsterdam has closed its building as a precautionary measure due to the COVID-19 disease outbreak. Starting Monday 16th March until Monday 6th April Amity Amsterdam will provide virtual learning for all students.
