Middle Years 1 to 3

Rigorous foundations within the IB Middle Years Programme
In MY1–MY3, students follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), a globally recognised conceptual framework designed to develop confident, reflective and internationally minded learners. At Amity, the MYP shapes how students think, while our carefully sequenced curriculum ensures strong disciplinary knowledge and clear preparation for IGCSE pathways and the IB Diploma Programme.
Teaching is delivered by expert subject specialists. Expectations are high. Progression is deliberate.
Learning is strengthened through practical investigation, structured debate, collaborative projects, interdisciplinary units and educational visits. Students are encouraged to connect knowledge across subjects and apply it meaningfully in real-world contexts.
Amity International School Amsterdam is an authorised International Baccalaureate® Middle Years Programme (MYP) school since December 2021. We aim to develop life long learners who have the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing society.

We are proud that our school is part of the DELF Scolaire Network in the Netherlands provided by the Institut Français des Pays-Bas to support our students with their French language development and their official French exams.

Amity MY Core Programme
Alongside subject study, students complete the Amity MY Core Programme, strengthening intellectual habits and personal development.
The Core includes:
- Learning to Learn – organisation, reflection and independent study
- Critical Thinking – structured reasoning and evaluation of evidence
- PSHCE – personal, social, health, careers and economic education
- Service as Action – inquiry leading to purposeful action and reflection
Together, these ensure students develop disciplined thinking, resilience and responsibility.
Approaches to Learning
Across all subjects, students explicitly develop the IB Approaches to Learning:
- Communication
- Thinking
- Research
- Self-management
- Collaboration
These skills are embedded and assessed, ensuring increasing independence and academic maturity.

Academic Support & Digital Learning
As a CENTURY Tech school, we use adaptive learning technology to personalise practice, identify gaps and strengthen mastery in key areas such as Mathematics and English. Data-informed teaching and structured feedback ensure students are both challenged and supported.
Preparing for Middle Years 4 – Middle Years 5
By the end of MY3, students have secure conceptual understanding, embedded study habits and early familiarity with IGCSE-aligned content in core disciplines — ensuring confident progression into externally benchmarked pathways.
