Amity International School Amsterdam officially accredited as IB World School for the Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Amity Amsterdam is delighted to announce the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) has approved the school for authorization to offer the Middle Years Programme. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged 11-16 and provides a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
After opening the doors of the Senior School in August 2019, the school soon applied to become a Candidate School for the MYP. The accreditation for the IB MYP now confirms that Amity International School Amsterdam has successfully developed and implemented the educational programme over the years to offer high-quality teaching at the international school in Amstelveen.
Principal Mrs Sarah Wade is very pleased with the school reaching this important milestone: ‘This accreditation demonstrates that as a school, we help students to develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and responsibility in their community. The team has worked incredibly hard to achieve this important step in our school’s journey’.
The International Baccalaureate has commended the students of Amity Amsterdam stating that they are ‘aware of human commonality, diversity and multiple perspectives’ and that the school ‘has built a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect throughout the school community.’ They also commended all groups within the school for ‘demonstrating a wide understanding of, and commitment to, the MYP’.
Amity Amsterdam continues to be a Candidate School* for the IB Diploma Programme and hopes to be an IB Continuum offering a minimum of three IB Programmes soon.
