Co-Curricular Activities

At Amity International School Amsterdam, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our Co-Curricular Programme offers an exceptional range of opportunities in sports, music, performing arts, creative arts, leadership, and academic enrichment. Whether developing teamwork on the sports field, performing on stage, building robots in STEM clubs, joining debate or innovation societies, or contributing to meaningful community projects, students build confidence, character, and essential global skills.

We encourage every student to try something new each term to explore, grow, and discover their passions. At Amity, we don’t just prepare students for the future; we empower them to shape it.

The Five Pillars of the Amity Co-Curricular Programme

Our Co-Curricular Programme is built around five pillars - Performing Arts, Sport, Creative Arts, Curriculum Enhancement, and Societies. Together, they create a balanced and holistic framework that nurtures personal growth, celebrates individuality, and inspires students to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts at Amity encourages students to explore creativity, expression, and personal confidence within an environment that values courage and communication. Whether through drama, music, dance, or public speaking, students learn to articulate ideas, collaborate respectfully, and connect with others. These experiences foster resilience, empathy, and self-belief—helping students discover their voice and appreciate the power of artistic expression. The Performing Arts not only develop talent but also cultivate character, strengthening the sense of community that defines life at Amity.

Sports

Sport at Amity supports the development of determination, teamwork, and wellbeing. Through competitive fixtures, house events, and recreational activities, students learn to approach challenges with courage, demonstrate fairness and respect, and strive for excellence while working collaboratively. Sport builds physical confidence, leadership, and emotional resilience. Whether representing the school or participating for enjoyment, students foster friendships, confidence, and a healthy sense of balance—qualities that contribute to a strong and connected school community.

Curriculum Enhancement

Curriculum Enhancement broadens academic learning by encouraging students to explore new disciplines, deepen their interests, and engage with challenging ideas. Through opportunities in STEM, languages, humanities, literature, debate, and research, students sharpen critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. This pillar supports intellectual curiosity and helps students develop confidence as independent learners. By engaging thoughtfully with global perspectives and diverse areas of study, students build the foundations needed to contribute positively to an ever-changing world and to approach their future pathways with courage and integrity.

Creative Arts

Creative Arts at Amity inspire imagination, inquiry, and expressive freedom. Students engage with mediums such as drawing, painting, crafts, mixed media, photography, and digital art, building confidence as they explore their ideas and develop their own creative voice. This pillar encourages curiosity, innovation, and thoughtful reflection as students experiment with techniques and respond to the world around them. Creative Arts nurtures independence, patience, and personal excellence while celebrating individuality and cultural appreciation. It empowers students to see themselves as creators and thinkers who can interpret and shape their environment with integrity and imagination.

Societies

Societies at Amity offer a platform for intellectual curiosity, leadership, and purposeful engagement beyond the classroom. Through student-led and mentor-supported groups - such as debate, Model United Nations, science, and entrepreneurship - students explore ideas in greater depth and articulate their perspectives with confidence. This pillar nurtures independence, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility, fostering critical thinking and collaboration while preparing students to contribute thoughtfully to an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

Collaboration with Amstel International Music School

In partnership with the Amstel International Music School, Amity offers students the opportunity to develop their musical talents through high-quality private instrumental lessons. Lessons are delivered by specialist teachers and designed to nurture confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Students may choose between two scheduling options: 30-minute lessons taking place during the school day on a rotating timetable - ensuring no single subject is missed consistently - or fixed after-school slots after school hours.

We currently offer piano, voice, guitar, and drums, with the flexibility to introduce additional instruments in response to student interest. Families wishing to register or learn more about the programme are warmly invited to contact reception@music-lessons.nl

Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

We are delighted to introduce the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at our school. This globally respected programme encourages young people to build independence, resilience, and essential life skills through a balanced combination of physical activity, skill development, community service, and outdoor adventure.

The Award reflects our commitment to holistic education, offering students meaningful opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. As participants progress through the programme, they develop leadership, teamwork, perseverance, and a strong sense of responsibility - qualities that prepare them for success in school and in life.

Our dedicated team will guide students throughout their journey, ensuring they feel supported, challenged, and inspired. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this Award will have on our students and our wider school community.
