Principal's Message

WelcomE to amity International School Amsterdam

David Porritt - Amity International School Amsterdam Principal

We are excited to meet you and get to know your children. Our school community began working together in 2017 and we have continued to hold close to our hearts the overriding aim that all of the students should enjoy their learning each and every day. What the students learn, as well as what they are like as young people, is very important to us, so we place a high priority on including them in as many day-to-day decisions as possible. This is because we not only believe that students are the centre of the school, but that in the end, the school is truly ‘theirs’.

Our goal is to support and challenge every student to achieve excellence in their behaviour, academic work, sport, the arts, culture, citizenship, spirituality and relationships. We place particular emphasis on providing the students with opportunities to develop leadership and team working skills, as well as finding ways for them all to help others and contribute to the wider community. We provide an inquiry-based educational experience that is rich in variety and depth, is balanced, ethically sound, internationally-minded and one that affords every student the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Parents and visitors consistently comment on the high quality of the classroom environments that we have set up to welcome your children. For students, the classroom is a place where they feel safe, welcome and part of a wonderful community of learning and achievement. The school has that same purpose for you as parents. We are keen and committed to working with you, not only to do all we can for your children, but also to help you feel that you belong to a dynamic and supportive community.

Even though we are at the beginning of our journey to full maturity as an international school, the dynamic and vibrant environment we have created provides a strong foundation for outstanding learning. Our teachers are both excellent professionals and impressive educators who bring cultural diversity along with their passion for teaching children and young people from all corners of the world. Internationalism is very important to us and we imagine that it is equally important to you too. Amity is a school of friendship and peace, of international cooperation. It is a place where people from all across the world come together as one.

We look forward to welcoming you.
